What do you remember from 2008?

Post by Dawn Wolf on Wed 10 Dec 2008 - 4:59

A lot of things happened in 2008, for me Adobe came out with the CS4 suite, Obama won, Dark Knight was a great movie, loved Ironman, Wrath of the Lich King came out, I saw some great Machinima, and so much more.

What will you remember from 2008? A particular video game? A movie? A computer program?

Flagship Studios (which was mostly run by people who left Blizzard) was closed. Sadness. I won't argue that Hellgate: London was incredibly flawed, but it was still enjoyable to a degree. Mostly I am sad because I knew the CEO and wanted him to kick some butt.

LARP gained a lot of positive ground with the Role Models film (Which I declined to be an extra in). It makes explaining our hobby a lot easier. I attended several interesting games through the Live Effects larp world and hosted my own Campaign game to great success. We had our own mini Northrend with zombies in the snow.

2008 - Some great superhero movies came out. Iron Man, Dark Knight, The Incredible Hulk. Nice to see that Hollywood can actually make a good movie and stick (some what) to the actual characters that were created eons ago.

Wrath of the Lich King and many, many hours spent on the computer leveling, questing and for the most part, wasting much time. LOL (Enjoyable....but I could be working on costuming.)

Attended SCA's Highland and Great Western Wars with some friends of mine in their new venture. The Red Sands Trading Company. And yes....we do have things to trade. Costumes, props, accessories....and we bauble!!!
I plan on finally attending Altavia practices out here in the Valley and hope to join the ranks of the physical fighters....possibly heavy. Smile

Another great year at the Renaissance Faire of Southern California. I'm part of the Academy of Practical Sciences....or the Inventors, for all you who don't remember that we actually used to have a physical building that was the Academy. Smile

Started to get back into my sewing. Making costumes, banners (not my best though. ~frown~), cloaks, accessories, etc.....so much to do and my creative bone has been activated again. Woot!

Was LARPing.....18 years now....but am trying to branch out into new things to see where my new wanderlust takes me.

So....much has happened in 2008. Woot! All good for the geek!!!!

2008 was largely a forgettable year for me. Nothing of note happened in my life. I'm hoping to make 2009 more interesting. Smile

Saw some great movies, had an awesome zoo internship, made a gorgeous new Ren bodice (with real metal boning! Wow what a difference!), learned to knit, and did a massive cross-country road trip!

2009 is already revving up to be an awesome year too! I'll be doing another internship and will be selling art and stuff at Further Confusion (Furry Convention in San Jose) Cat Smile
