What would be a good web design book to get?

Well I know how to put a website together, but want to have something that helps me spiff it up. Wish there was like a web design bible book. But all I find is a bunch of books just for javascript, Spry, CSS, HTML, etc. Some might combine javascript & Spry or other combos, but each book still costs like $40 and up.

So I'm wondering if anyone has a suggestion on what books to check out.
